Here's the route for this week's club group ride.
I've tried to avoid any known issues, particularly with mud on the road around Mark, and to keep away from busy roads - even if it is a Sunday. If there are any unexpected problems, I trust in the groups ability to brain storm a solution - eternal optimist that I am. There's always Google; if there's a phone signal.
The usual direction of travel would be the other way around, but there could be a few issues that I thought worth avoiding.
On the plus side, there are several options for café stops. I might suggest dispensing with the Tor first before taking on coffee and cake, or whatever.
There is a little spur on the track in Glastonbury itself, down to Heaphy's, although I haven't been there for a while but it's been good in the past. If Heaphy's is no good, too busy, etc, then the route passes Doublegate Farm near Lower Godney, that is still open at this time of year according to their website. Failing that the route passes Sweets, or a short diversion to the Avalon Centre, if all else fails.
Meet up at 9am, outside Priory School. If anyone based in town wants a lay-in, feel free to pick a spot along the way and tag along. I would expect the group leaving Priory to take about 15 to 20 minutes, on a good day, to get to the Seafront and the end of the Beach Lawns. It might be worth using Facebook or WhatsApp to alert the group to this possibility.
