Competition rules 2018.

In addition to the general rules and advice on the competition home page, here are the new rules for 2017. “Maximum Wins” rule for 2018 At the AGM 2017 the club voted to introduce a constraint on how many competitions an individual rider could win. The aim of the rule was to guard against the possibility of a strong rider dominating the competitions to the exclusion of everyone else. For 2018 a rider will only be eligible to win one competition from each of the following groups. Point-to-point: Three Piers Challenge, Sweets Time Trial. Sprint: Accomodation Rd sprint, Bleadon Hill hill climb. Circular: Rob Special Time Trial, SRC Wednesday evening Time Trial, and Brean-Burnham Time Trial. You are still invited to enter all the competitions and there's some good reasons for doing so. All attempts will count in the points competition and if you lose your lead in one competition your attempts in others become eligible once more. Ineligible ride times will still appear on the leader boards published in the competition report. So your achievements will be recognised although you won't have a competition position assigned to you (See example below). If you are fastest in more than one competition in a group, you’ll be given the lead of the one in which you are most dominant, unless you have expressed a preference. Dominance will be determined by your lead expressed as a percentage of your overall time. Here’s an Example: The leader boards for two sprint competitions ( Sprint 1 and Sprint 2 ) below show Eddy is the fastest in both. Because he is most dominant in Sprint 2 ( 20 sec lead vs 10 lead ) and he's not expressed a preference, he leads that competition. His Sprint 1 time is recognised on the leader board, but because of the "rule" it's not eligible for a position in the competition. Chris leads now leads Sprint 1, but is ineligible for Sprint 2. Sprint comp 1 Pos         Name                                    Time **             Eddy Merkx                       07:00 1st          Chris Boardman                07:10 2nd        Brad Wiggins                     07:30 3rd         Greg Lemond                     07:40 ** Rider ineligible because they currently lead another Sprint Competition Sprint comp 2 Pos         Name                                    Time 1st          Eddy Merkx                       07:00 **           Chris Boardman                  07:20 2nd        Brad Wiggins                     07:30 3rd         Greg Lemond                     07:40 ** Rider ineligable because they currently lead another Sprint Competition   What happens if Chris posts a 06:50 time for Sprint 2 next time out? He takes the lead in Sprint 2 and renders himself ineligible for sprint 1. Eddy's Sprint 1 ride now becomes eligible and he takes the lead in that competition.
