How to Enter When you have completed an attempt on a competition/challenge please let the Competitions Secretary know. The easiest way to do so is via Strava using the #WWCOMP tag. When you upload a ride onto strava which contains a competition attempt, simply include the tag #WWCOMP in the ride title ( e.g “Sunny morning ride #WWCOMP” ). The Competitions Secretary will record times for any competition segments covered on the ride and add a comment to confirm this has been done. A Couple of Caveats In order to take advantage of this facility you’ll need to be part of the Weston Wheelers Strava club. Because this is a manual process there is the potential for tags being missed, particularly if a ride is uploaded to Strava late. For this reason, you remain responsible for ensuring your competitions attempts are recorded. If there is no confirming comment against the activity then it hasn’t been recorded. The activity feed should be swept through at least once a week. If yours hasn’t be picked up – please submit by email; WWCC.Competitions@gmail.com, or by using the contact page here:

If anyone has difficulty in downloading the GPX route files from Strava, the club Secretary will be able to send one via email. (secretary.weston.wheelers@gmail.com) General Advice.
  1. The competitions and challenges are not only to determine which club member is able to ride his or her bicycle the quickest, it is also a test of planning and, unavoidably, at the whim of the cycling gods. Consequently, the winner in each section may not reflect the ability of the individual to propel their featherweight, aero bike the quickest, but the ability of the rider to plan, and execute a ride along a designated route, taking all circumstances into account, and not have a puncture in the process.
  2. It may be possible for the club to arrange for a group individual attempt on the Bleadon Hill hill climb, watch for any announcements on Facebook.
  3. Ensure any route you plan encompasses 'all' of the designated segment. GPS devices are not perfect so any route should include some travel before and after the segment start and finish points.
General rules.
  1. At all times, club members attempting a challenge or competition must observe all Road Traffic legislation and requirements of the Highway Code, and should conduct themselves in a safe and considerate manner.
  2. Unless otherwise stated, the competitions and challenges will utilise Strava timings to determine the winner in whatever categories the individual entrant falls into, and the competition committee judge appropriate. E.g. Male/Female Junior, Adult, Senior, etc.
  3. When a club member completes a challenge or time trial, the club member is responsible for informing the club competition committee of their attempt and provide their Strava record for their ride.
  4. If it is found that the route taken was not the same as the designated route, then the attempt will not be recognised in terms of time, although the attempt may be awarded points if the deviation is minor.
  5. Only times recorded between the designated riding season start and finish dates will be considered. (Currently 1st April to 30th September)
  6. In the event of any dispute, the competition committee's decision is final.
  7. Only paid up members of the club, at the time of their entry, will be considered for competitions and challenges.
  8. One attempt per competition per day will count towards the points competition. (I.E you can't just ride up and down Accomodation road all day clocking up points!)
Disclaimer. The competition routes that have been published are the clubs' best efforts in producing a viable series of tests for club members - these are aimed at being challenging but enjoyable and within the capability of all club members. It is entirely possible that there be mistakes. If any errors are found please inform the club Secretary, so that we can correct the routes, segments etc. It may be the case, that until club members attempt individual tests, that particular issues not be obvious, although all routes have been tested by the committee.
